ECCO ED9040R — Flush-Mount Red Directional LED (Hide-A-LED®, 29 Flash Patterns, 12-24 V DC, SAE Class I)

The ECCO ED9040R is a concealed, high-performance red directional LED designed for installations where visibility is essential but aesthetic bulk must be minimized. As part of ECCO’s Hide-A-LED® series, this unit features a low-profile flush or 1″ hole mount, supports 29 selectable flash patterns, and operates across 12–24 V DC. Its design provides SAE Class I directional performance in a compact 1.3″ × 1.3″ × 1.4″ housing, ideal for integrating into bumpers, body panels, trim, or other surfaces. (Zoro lists it as a flush mount LED directional light, ED9040R)

Why Use ECCO ED9040R?

  • Offers a red directional warning capability in a nearly invisible form factor
  • Best for vehicle systems with limited space for external lightheads
  • Compatible with both 12 V and 24 V systems — useful for mixed fleet environments
  • Supports synchronization to create uniform flashing across multiple modules
  • Meets regulatory directional standards (SAE Class I) while staying compact
Common Applications

  • Embedded in bumpers, body panels, trim or fascia for directional warning
  • Side-edge corner lighting for emergency, tow, or utility vehicles
  • Retrofits where larger directional modules are impractical
  • Supplemental directional lighting working alongside full-size lightbars
Installation Tips & Best Practices

  • Select a flush mounting surface or proper hole cutout.
  • Use the supplied gasket or sealant to prevent moisture intrusion.
  • Route wiring through grommets or sealed bulkheads to protect against abrasion.
  • Fuse the positive, user-supplied line near the battery (recommend 3 A slow-blow per ECCO’s instructions)
  • Ensure a solid chassis ground for stable operation.
  • Before final mounting, cycle through all 29 flash modes via the pattern-select wire.
  • If using multiple ED9040 units, wire synchronization (sync) lines properly to align flashing patterns.
  • Periodically inspect lens cleanliness, mount integrity, and wiring for wear.
