ECCO ED9040W — Flush-Mount White Hide-A-LED® Directional LED (29 Flash Patterns, 12–24 V DC, SAE Class I)

Bring crisp, clean directional lighting to your vehicle in a low-profile, concealed format with the ECCO ED9040W. Part of ECCO’s Hide-A-LED™ ED9040 series, this unit combines modern warning light performance with a minimalist footprint. It features:

  • White single-color directional output ideal for perimeter or auxiliary lighting
  • Flush-mount or 1″ hole installation for nearly invisible mounting
  • Compatibility with 12–24 V DC vehicle systems
  • 29 selectable flash patterns built into the module (no external controller needed)
  • SAE Class I directional output rating for regulated use
  • Slim dimensions: approx. 1.3″ × 1.3″ × 1.4″ housing
  • Engineering supports synchronization with other ED9040 units for coordinated flash across multiple modules
  • Operating temperature range: –22 °F to +122 °F (–30 °C to +50 °C)
  • Max current: up to ~1.2 A at 12 V (nominal for ED9040 single-color models)
The ED9040 series concept is to embed all control electronics, flash modes, and dim/steady-burn features in the module itself—eliminating the need for a separate LED controller.

Why Choose the ED9040W?

  • Delivers a clean, bright white directional output from a nearly invisible package
  • Meets regulatory directional lighting requirements while preserving vehicle aesthetics
  • Built-in pattern variety and synchronization make it flexible for fleet or emergency setups
  • Dual-voltage compatibility simplifies parts inventory across 12V and 24V platforms
  • Rugged, sealed construction ensures reliability in harsh environments
Typical Applications

  • Embedded directional lighting in bumpers, body panels, or trim surfaces
  • Side-edge or corner accent directional lighting for emergency, utility, or fleet vehicles
  • Retrofit of existing directional styles with a modern, low-profile LED solution
  • Supplemental directional modules working in sync with full lightbar systems
Installation Tips

  • Choose a flush or 1″ hole cut depending on your mounting surface.
  • Use gasket or proper sealing to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Route wiring through grommets or sealed bulkheads to avoid sharp edges.
  • Fuse the positive lead near the battery (ECCO recommends a 3 A slow-blow fuse for the module)
  • Ground to a clean, bare-metal chassis point to reduce flicker or noise.
  • Cycle through the 29 patterns on the blue wire (momentary grounding) before final fastening.
  • If using multiple ED9040 units, tie sync (yellow) wires and phase them correctly for synchronized flashing.
  • Inspect lens clarity, mounting, and wiring regularly—especially in high-use or salted-road environments.
